Packwell's facility has been designed with sustainable practices from the ground up. The warehouse portion of the building contains 220 trans-lights to allow operation of machinery by indirect daylight and only partial overhead lighting. All indoor walls have been painted with no-VOC and low-VOC paints to minimize toxic gases that can contaminate indoor air. Solar screens have been installed at all West-facing windows to reduce cooling cost.

The offices downstairs are furnished with recycled office furniture, eliminating the need to purchase new furniture, which would result in increasing pollution due to manufacturing and shipping of the product. All kitchen appliances are Energy Star-rated in order to reduce energy consumption. Commercial cleaning products are avoided due to toxic fumes, and only natural cleaning agents are used to clean the facilities. The company is part of a recycling program, currently still not a part of the organized city services offered by the City of La Porte.
